What a perfect night of live music in Austin as the Arc Angels tore up the stage at the Continental Club on Thursday.  The legendary Austin band is in the middle of a three-night stand at the club to warm up for a major UK tour opening for Eric Clapton.

My ears and I survived the famously loud shoegazer band My Bloody Valentine at the Austin Music Hall on Tuesday.  Although I used earplugs.  And I only stayed for the first three songs.  But still…

 I was a little nervous after hearing stories of the band’s extremely loud concerts causing people to get sick.

Seriously though, the band was great.  I wish I could have stayed for the whole show.

I had the privilege today of photographing one of the all-time great Austin bands - The Arc Angels.   The band members have reunited and are working on their second album.  They are getting ready to go on tour opening for Eric Clapton on his UK tour.  It was a pleasure to photograph them, and I can’t wait to hear more of their new record.

Hundreds mourn slain priest

 

The funeral Mass for the Rev. Jesse Euresti filled Cristo Rey Catholic Church and spilled out of the Second Street Church on Wednesday night as parishioners came to pay their last respects to their pastor. Beatrice Rios-Ybarbo, a niece of Euresti's, is comforted by a member of the community. Euresti's body was found next to a highway in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, on Sunday.
